Captain Erik took my son 7yr old son and I out for an afternoon and we had a great time. He put us on fish right away even though we had heard the bite was slow. We moved around (which we both thought was cool) and caught 4 different species and to end the evening saw a dolphin. I had fun and more importantly my son had a great time. Sometimes I worry about taking a kid so young but Erik was great with him. When we got home there were lots of stories for mom and many started with, "Captain Erik said..." Great time.

I have been vacationing to the southwest Florida area all my life and just about every year or so my family and I fish with a charter. Erik has provided me with the best fishing experience by far!! (Helped me catch the biggest fish I’ve ever caught as well). My dad and I did a half day trip and we were catching fish constantly the whole time. Erik put us on the fish immediately, literally within seconds of the first cast. Bottom line, if you are looking for the best fishing experience in Florida I promise Erik is who you want.
We hired Erik to take us out for some inshore fishing. He put us on fish right away and my boys and their friend were catching at a steady pace. He outdid the last charter we hired in the first 15 minutes. He was patient while teaching proper technique as it is different then "set the hook" which is what we are used to. He was Johnny on the spot rebaiting hooks and showing where to cast. Fantastic experience and would definitely hire him again. You won't go wrong with Erik folks.

I thought I hated fishing because it’s boring. However, this made it so much FUN! Captain Erik is awesome, he’s the best one. I caught two fish my first try. My boyfriends dad caught about 6-7 fish and they were HUGE. He stopped to let me see the scenery and take pictures with my new camera. I’m from Oklahoma so when I come back next year he will definitely be requested. He’s awesome at teaching you how to fish if your inexperienced or even experienced. Love this guy! The best fishing trip I've had, EVER! Captain Erik was patient, courteous and respectful. Great teacher as well. Took us to several good spots with Snook fishing being the best. While in route to the fishing spots, Captain Erik pointed out two different dolphin pods and a bald eagle taking the time for my son & his girl friend to get photos. I highly recommend Captain Erik.
If you’re ever in the Fort Meyers area and want to do a little fishing, Captain Eric Johnson with Sea-N-Red charters is top notch. I booked two days back to back. The first for the little boys to get out on the water and catch some snapper and the second for the big boys to try and catch our first snook and/or red drum. We caught our limit of snapper the first day and our family of 9 ate well for two days. The second day, my oldest and I both hooked a nice size snook but both times the fish spit the hook (our inexperience). So captain Eric moved us on to red fish. We set our hopes on each of us reeling in at least one. We ended up catching 12 total. Captain Eric even got a video of us each releasing one at the same time. They were both great days on the water despite the summer heat.
I’ve fished with Erik for 3 years in a row and he has been terrific. I’ll be fishing with him as long as I can stand on the bow of the boat. This was a first time ocean fishing trip with my two kids, ages 5 and 14. As you can imagine, we were a little worried how our 5 year old daughter would do on a 5 hour charter. Captain Erik was really great with the kids on board and especially made our daughter feel at ease. He was very patient in teaching them both how to fish and kept things lively the whole time. Erik definitely knows where to find the fish as we literally caught a fish on the very first cast and we caught so many that we eventually stopped counting. My daughter swears she caught 15 fish which is a pretty epic day for a 5 year old who had never even held a fishing pole prior to the trip. Mom, Dad and big brother also caught plenty of fish. It was a great day. We will definitely be back to see Erik next time we are in Fort Myers!!!

Even though the weather was challenging, the experience with Erik was outstanding! For a bunch of salt water fishing rookies, Erik made us feel comfortable and took the time educate us throughout the entire trip. He worked very hard and took us to multiple spots to ensure that we caught as many fish as possible. He even shared a top secret fishing technique that we cannot share here but maybe when you book him, he will share it with you too! 1st Charter, 1st cast... caught a big peacock. Called Erik last minute for a freshwater charter, he was incredibly responsive and made the charter process easy. It was my first fishing trip but he helped me feel like a pro, was there to get me started and bailed me out when I got in trouble. I took my son on a fishing trip with Erik in March on spring break, and it was one of the best days of our lives. Ryder had been dreaming of an ocean fishing experience (we are from MN), since the day he had a pole in his hand. Erik went out of his way to make our day enjoyable from start to finish. Went on a morning trip with Captain Erik while we were in town for baseball. He could not have been more friendly and accommodating. He had already went out earlier in morning and caught bait to save us time so we could get right to fishing. We started off the day targeting snook. Erik put us right on the fish. Caught 8 or 9 30-35+ inch snook and then headed out to catch some red fish. We caught just as many redfish as we did snook and then decided to call it a day. We’ve been on many charters in the past but few even compare to our experience with sea n red charters and Captain Erik. Super great guy and even better captain! We had heard great reviews of Eric’s fishing skills and signed up for a four hour charter. It was special! We started off with a couple nice snook. Then Eric switched to a spot loaded with sea trout. We brought up 10 trout with my wife bringing in a 20 incher. We then went hunting for red fish. We tried for a while with no success. We were heading back to the dock and had time for one more try. My bobber went down and the fish rocketed down the mangroves where it got tangled in the branches. Eric jumped in the water and found the line. He pulled the 35 inch snook back to the boat where we got pictures and then released the big female. What a catch!! It was a hell of a day. Thank you Eric, Jim and Darlene Philip.

We were down in Cape Coral Florida for a company conference. The company chartered several boats for afternoon inshore fishing. We were lucky enough to get on Sea n Red Fishing Charters boat with Eric. It was a very windy day and I had my doubts but Eric put us on the fish. We caught several nice Reds and a couple Snooks. I would highly recommend Sea n Red to anyone looking for a great fishing charter in the Cape Coral area. Eric had great fishing gear and allowed each one of us to fish at our own fishing ability.

My wife and I did a half day trip with Erik, and couldn’t have been happier. He arrived to the meeting place on time and ready to fish. Not only did he put us on fish, he also explained the fishing methods and things like habitat and tides. He let us try a variety of fishing styles and species to give us a taste of what the area has to offer. As saltwater rookies, we really liked that. We caught a lot of snook, ladyfish, and a bonus cobia. He was very laid back, and it felt more like fishing with a friend than a hired guide. My wife isn’t very into fishing, and was intimidated by the whole thing before we went out. Erik made it very fun for her, and it ended up being her favorite part of our vacation. If we go to the Fort Myers area again, we will definitely fish with Erik again.

Had a great day on the water with Captain Erik. He moved around to find fish, and we tried a number of techniques, which allowed us to land dozens of trout, snapper and lady fish.
Although I fished solo with Erik, he would be great for a family, for beginners, or for experienced anglers alike. He is very professional and courteous, and an excellent communicator.

He set a prearranged meeting place and time convenient for all. He was on time and always ahead of schedule. He provided all the necessary, licensing, fishing equipment with good rods, reels, lures and live bait. His modern high-powered fishing boat enabled us to get anywhere in the bays, mangroves and Caloonsahatchee waters. Eric is a very experienced captain and everyone felt very comfortable with his attention to safety. He knows where the fish are and makes the extra effort to put you on top of them.His friendly, joyful and outgoing personality added to making the day of fishing very enjoyable. Capt. Eric of Sea N Red charters is an excellent captain to fish with. His boat and equipment are always well kept in and working order. He shares knowledge of the local fish and wildlife. He’s happy to explain how conditions like weather, tide and temperature affect the movement of the fish. Went on a half day charter yesterday with EJ from Sea N Red Charters and it was excellent. EJ is an easy going captain that’s knows the water. During the trip he explained the different areas we would fish and how to read the water. We caught 4 different species of fish in one spot! I did a half day shark fishing trip started day off fast with a nice bull shark! Missed 2 bites and then hooked into an absolute dinosaur, a giant saw fish roughly 15 feet that took 2 hours to get up would recommend this captain to any human I felt safe and like I was cared about the entire time on boat and he even got my girlfriend who wasn’t fishing to have the time of her life!! We had a great trip! Goal was to catch fish for dinner. Sheepshead was the target. Had a successful day- 2 shy of the daily limit only because we wanted to experience catching redfish as well, which was also a successful endeavor. Eric was a great guide. Knowledgeable & personable. We'd been chasing Erik @ Sea 'n Red for 2 years and each time he was out of town (a rarity b/c it was the off-season) or he was booked (not so rare during season); however, both times he connected us with excellent substitutes within his vast network.
This week we finally had the chance to connect and the trip was EPIC. While we weren't reeling in fish the whole time (that would be catching, not fishing), we were always on the way to the next spot, on the hunt reading the water, on the prowl chumming with bait in the water, or on the move trolling over a bit near the last spot. We pulled in multiple species and had a chance to experience both slow and action fishing, but when we hit the honeyholes, we were pulling in very worthy Snook and tournament-worthy Redfish - one after another - knowing it was a rare occurrence and would only last until the sharks, the other pirate guides, or the dolphins showed up. Not to discount the last couple trips (which were great) but experience matters, especially in these waters post-storm.
Erik is relatable, respectful, knowledgeable, willing to educate when prompted, and able to communicate well with both me and my fidgitty son. We weren't "bored" at any time (the scenery, smells, and education were worth the trip alone) and I would be posting the same review even if we hadn't caught the bigger stuff we caught.

Erik was one of the best fishing charters I have been on. His knowledge of the area and the best places to find fish given the current conditions is impeccable. He took us to 3 different spots and caught fish at every one. On the way he pointed out manatees, dolphins and even a bald eagle. He is patient and friendly and can work with every person from the novice to the seasoned veteran. I would recommend Erik without hesitation to anyone.

First spot he took us to we were instantly on fish, took amazing pictures of us fishing and sent them to us and was more than happy to answer our questions. UPDATE - Fished a couple more times with Captain Erik in 2021. We absolutely SLAYED the Reds and Jacks. It seemed every fish we caught over a two day period became a new personal best. We didn't catch any "keepers" because they were all too big for Florida regulations. Hell of a problem to have in my opinion!!!!!

Had a wonderful holiday trip with Captain Erik today. Heard about him from a friend and I owe that friend a beer. We had a great day of fishing. Caught my personal best snook of about 30 inches and just missed getting one in the boat closer to 40!!! We hit snapper, jack, black drum, trout and snook.
Built a great day of memories with my son and found my go-to charter in the Sanibel/Fort Myers area.

While on vacation in Cape Coral, Florida, we had the pleasure of using this charter company to do some inshore fishing. My wife and two young children had never fished on a charter boat before. Erik was awesome. He was able to fit us in at the last minute. We did some 4-hour inshore fishing. We had such a great time. Erik was so knowledgeable about all the wildlife we came across while we were out (dolphins, manatees, bull shark, sting rays, and iguanas). We caught some fish species we have never caught before (Jack, Sailcat, Trout, and Redfish). This was our first time fishing outside of the northern US freshwaters. Erik had an eye for the redfish. Watching him try to spot them was very cool. He was a big help and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING W/ SEA N RED. You won't regret it.

What really made the trip stand out though was Captain Erik himself. You can tell immediately that this isn’t just a job to him — he genuinely loves what he does and knows these waters inside and out. He taught us a lot throughout the trip, kept everything fun and easygoing, and made the entire experience feel natural and memorable instead of overly touristy or forced.

We had a great outing with Erik. It started out slow as the first few fishing spots Erik suggested didn’t pan out. What’s nice is Erik doesn’t waste time hanging out in a slow spot. Off we went to the next spot where we stayed and had some success landing Lady Fishes at first. Erik mentioned that Spotted Sea Trout can hang in the same areas as the Ladies, so he moved us slightly and sure enough we started catching Trout. Erik had us using fresh live shrimp on a hook with a bright orange bobber or a weighted jig. Both rigs were effective. The jig allowed for casting fun. The bobber allowed us to have a beer while waiting for the bobber to sink, indicating that a fish was on. Putting the beer down allowed time for the fish to run with the bait and as reeling started, boom! Hooked em! We caught our limit of trout and had a great fresh dinner. Trout is rich and a filling meal. Great taste! Erik taught us how to watch the bobber movement and what to do when the bobber disappeared. He also explained the method of landing a fish in the boat without a net which is less risky of losing a trout than using a net. Erik does a great job of navigating his known fishing hot spots and teaching the finer points of fishing. I thoroughly enjoyed what I learned from Erik and spending the day actually catching fish, as opposed to just fishing. There’s a difference. I highly recommend Erik for a great chance of an enjoyable fishing outing.
